Five Yoga Poses to Connect with the Sacral Chakra

The sacral chakra, or Svadhishthana, is the second of the body's seven main chakras or energy centres. It is associated with the Water Element and it is located in the pelvis and hip area. Water is the element of emotion, creativity, passion and pleasures. Like the rolling tides of the ocean, the water element is strong, yet soft and fluid. In our yoga practice, embracing the water element serves to transform stiffness of both our body and mind. In becoming more rhythmic like water, connecting with the waves of the breath we can work on finding softness as we reach the edges. Each of the seven chakras is associated with a different colour. The sacral chakra is orange.

Below I have put together 5 yoga poses that will help you connect with the sacral chakra.

As you connect to the sacral chakra and the water element in your yoga practice, notice where you tend to hold tension or tightness in your body, and visualise water flowing freely through it to encourage relaxation and release.

Enjoy your practice.

Namaste.
